After forming in 2010, The Laurels String Quartet quickly became the go-to quartet for many of the most celebrated artists and groups in Minneapolis and beyond including: Jeremy Messersmith, The New Standards, Semisonic, Dan Wilson (Grammy award winner: Dixie Chicks, Adele), Belle & Sebastian, Motion City Soundtrack, Devotchka, Nico Muhly, Sam Amidon, Doveman, Nadia Sirota. P.O.S. (Doomtree), John Mark Nelson, Chan Poling (Suburbs), John Munson (Trip Shakespeare), Matt Wilson (Twilight Hours), Chris Koza (Rogue Valley), Communist Daughter, Lucy Michelle, Chastity Brown, Alison Scott, Kevin Bowe, Adam Levy (Honeydogs), Dessa (Doomtree).
The quartet has had the pleasure of playing numerous shows at some of the most notable venues including: the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York on the Late Show with David Letterman, First Avenue Main Room, The Fitzgerald Theater, The State Theater, Cedar Cultural Center, Varsity Theater, Minnesota State Fair Grand Stand, Hopkins Center for the Arts, The Fine Line, Icehouse, Southern Theater, and the Graves 601 Hotel. The quartet has done many in-studio sessions on 89.3 The Current with various artists and has also appeared on The Daily Circuit on MPR with Kerri Miller. The quartet is made up of Josh Misner and Jesse Peterson on violins, Erica Burton on viola, and Cory Grossman on cello.
